Sofie Elkjær Jensen
Sofie Elkjær Jensen has a Bachelor of Music degree from the Royal Danish Academy of Music and graduated from the Danish Opera Academy in 2011.
Since her graduation, Sofie has performed several roles at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen: The title role in The Cunning Little Vixen by Janacek, Frasquita in Carmen and Papagena in Die Zauberflöte. Sofie had her debut with the Danish National Opera as Zerlina in Don Giovanni in 2012 as well as her opera debut in Kiel, Germany, the same year.
Sofie has performed as a soloist in Gorecki's 3rd Symphony with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and in Haydn's "Die Schöpfung" with the South Denmark Philharmonic among other performances with symphony orchestras.
Since 2009, Sofie has performed with the Copenhagen Opera Festival.
In 2014 Sofie was nominated ”Singer of the Year” by the Reumert committee and she has been awarded the Folmer Jensen Music Prize. Sofie has received the Leonie Sonning Scholarship and the Richard-Wagner-Stipendium, and in 2015 she received the prestigious award, Aalborg Opera Award.
After singing several roles at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen, Sofie now got a permanent contract as member of the soloist ensemble. She will sing Gilda in "Rigoletto" in the coming season.
